Management Team
Vikas Jha – Founder & CEO
Vikas founded Teracent in 2006, coding the first dynamic ad serving prototype himself. Prior to founding Teracent, Vikas was an early employee and VP of Engineering at Inktomi where he worked for over 6 years. Vikas has been closely involved with advanced product development in the areas of online advertising technologies and scalable internet infrastructure software for the last 12 years. Vikas holds a PhD in Computer Science from UCLA and a B.Tech. in Computer Science from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India.
Chip Hall – SVP, Sales and Marketing
As the head of sales, marketing, and business development, Chip brings 15 years of diverse entrepreneurial and corporate experience within the Internet Media industry to Teracent. Previously Chip ran Yahoo!’s Global Strategic Partnership team where he was charged with accelerating the Ad Age 200’s media spend online. Chip crafted and drove the company’s research online/buy offline (ROBO) strategy that resulted in a corporate focus on digital circulars and the creation of the Yahoo! Smart Ads product for retail. Chip and his team created new strategic relationships with partners such as Target, Best Buy, RadioShack, Wal-Mart, Intel, General Motors, Philips and American Express that focused on better targeted local marketing through new products and shared data insights. Chip was also an early architect of the Yahoo!/eBay corporate partnership, a relationship that became the foundation of the current Yahoo! Publisher Network. Before leaving the company, Chip led Yahoo! to redefine its Lead Generation business through strategic partnerships.
Chip started his career in technology in 1993 doing public relations for early Internet pioneers like Cybersource, Cybercash, Verisign and Yahoo!, and landed the first internet access product (Internet-in-a-Box) on the cover of PC Magazine as a 1994 “Product of the Year”. Chip went on to found Release Software as VP of Marketing and helped companies such as Hewlett-Packard and Symantec begin to use the Internet as a software distribution channel. Chip also led Organic Online’s business development efforts and successfully sold the first e-commerce systems to Starbucks, Home Depot and AutoZone before starting Fluid Ventures and leading Series A investments in companies such as Clickability and also running IT Services portfolio company Fluid Design & Development as CEO.
Chip received an AB in History from Stanford University and an MBA from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.
Nick Cherry – VP, Business Operations
Nick leads Business Operations at Teracent with responsibility for Product Management, Customer Operations and Creative Design. Nick joined Teracent after nearly eight years with Advertising.com, the web’s largest display advertising network. At Advertising.com Nick held roles in the sales department, in Operations leading a business analysis team and finally running the Product Development team responsible for next generation advertising products and strategies. Nick holds a BS in Business Administration from Georgetown University.
Ernest Lam – Director, Engineering
Ernest leads Engineering at Teracent with responsibility for Research and Development as well as Technical Operations. Prior to joining Teracent, Ernest held numerous engineering management positions at Inktomi and Yahoo! Search, leading teams to build large-scale distributed systems. Ernest holds an MS in Computer Science from Stanford University and a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley.
